black starMOONDANCE 2007 - SEE YOU IN HOLLYWOOD!:

The Moondance International Film Festival event moved to Hollywood in 2006, to accommodate our ever-popular, growing and expanding film festival. The Los Angeles-area venue gives festival attendees the opportunity to more easily get exposure for your work and make contact with the film industry's movers and shakers: agents, producers, distributors, directors, actors, casting agents, studios, production companies, and savvy audiences, while attending the Moondance. The festival office will remain in Boulder.

Moondance 2006 in Hollywood was a huge success, and we heard many an enthusiastic, "Welcome to Hollywood!"s and "See you next year!"s from the audiences and attendees. Lots of celebrities from Hollywood showed up, including major studio executives, writers and producers of hit TV shows, directors of major studio films, movie stars, comedian George Lopez, comedienne Phyllis Diller and Phil Roman (exec producer of The Simpsons).

The networking parties were a lot of fun and productive, and were very well-attended. Lots of networking, connecting and schmoozing was going on at parties, during pitch panels and between films and workshops. Many attendees, filmmakers and writers were from countries other than the US. More than 10 deals were made during the 2006 film festival that I heard of!

The films we will be screening in 2007 are some of the best-ever at Moondance, and the audiences will surely love 'em all! Kudos and big hugs to you filmmakers, writers and composers. We play CDs of our finalist and winning film scores during all intermissions in all 4 theaters for 3 evenings of screenings, so the composers get important exposure, too!

Online festival pre-registration for Moondance 2007 will begin soon, and will be announced on the website and in the newsletter. Stay tuned!

black starMOONDANCERS WRITE US

I am in Cannes right now and I'm having a blast. I have heard such wonderful things about Moondance! I can only hope to be attending your festival soon. - X Roze

I have been on your mailing list for the past two years and was always impressed with the integrity of the programs. - John Paul Cooney

It's rare that I have an opportunity to submit short stories to film festivals - though I submit numerous short screenplays,  there are few, truly viable venues for short stories.  - Diana Jones

Thank you so kindly of thinking of me and my film, "I've Dreamed of You So Much", and passing my info along to Toni Powell of The Heart of Gold Festival (Australia). It means very much to me. I am most grateful for this. - Marina Boldireff (Toronto, Canada)

Thank you for your kind email -- that's the first  time somebody has so graciously notified us that our entry has been received. We are so impressed by your dedication and professionalism, that it will be an honor to be selected by your festival. We hope you become one of the most successful festivals in  the country. - Vera Chawla

Just wanted to give you an update on our film, Native New Yorker, that had the honor of premiering at Moondance and winning best doc short at Moondance 2005. With the encouragement of our win at Moondance, we entered and were selected by many other festivals around the globe, and subsequently winning at many of them. Upcoming: Native New Yorker has been invited to screen at numerous other festivals in addition to airing on Comcast's VOD/Palm Pictures, airing on WNET/PBS this Summer '07, and the Aboriginal People's Television Network/Canada in the Fall 07. A full update is available at www.NativeNewYorkerFilm.com. BTW, I recently scored a film by 1st-time filmmaker Sarah Sifers called FATE OF THE LHAPA. I urged her to submit to Moondance. It follows the lives of the last 3 Tibetan Shamans called Lhapas. It was filmed at the Pokhara Refugee Camp in Nepal over several years. - Bill Susman (San Francisco, CA) http://www.susmanmusic.com/

Dear Elizabeth, Thank you, so much for the extremely helpful feedback on my script. Your encouragement and support of my writing mean a great deal to me. As a former Moondance winner, I wanted to let you know how much I value the Moondance Film Festival. I attended the festival last year and had a wonderful time participating in workshops, meeting with consultants, watching great films, and networking. I made some important contacts that are helping me to further my writing career. I hope to attend this year's festival, as well. I think  the Moondance Film Festival is one of the best contests for writers. You offer a multitude of categories, and many awards. I appreciate the fact that this competition gives careful consideration and acknowledgement to all genres. Moondance is also one of the few film and screenwriting contests that honors the work of women (and recognizes men, too).

The best part of Moondance is you. As the Director of Moondance you work tirelessly and unselfishly to support the creative work of those who seek you out. Through long conversations with you, I've learned so much, and I've been able to keep honing my writing skills. I really can't say enough to praise you and Moondance. I highly recommend the Moondance Film Festival to both established and aspiring writers, directors and filmmakers. Best Regards, - Donna Lisa
