1. WRITTEN WORKS SUBMISSIONS: feature screenplays, short screenplays, feature & short musical screenplays, feature & short screenplays for children, 1, 2 or 3-act stageplays, mini-series for TV, television movies of the week, television pilots, libretti, musical film scripts, short stories, radio plays & short stories for children

2. FILM SUBMISSIONS: DVDs in NTSC format are the preferred format for submitting film entries to the competition. DVDs in NTSC format or PAL video tapes and PAL DVDs accepted for features, short narratives, feature documentaries, short documentaries, animation, filmed TV pilots, music videos, multi-media narrative shorts & features, features & shorts for children & shorts by young filmmakers 18 & under. Please note running time on entry form & on DVD.

3. FILM SCORES: spec CDs, narrative feature, short, documentary, multi-media & animation film scores. Send CD & NTSC DVD or PAL tape, if the film has been produced

4. Preview DVDs or VHS tapes may be in NTSC or PAL format. If your submission is in PAL format, and is selected for screening at the film festival, you must send us an NTSC Digi-Beta. The film festival will only screen NTSC Digi-Beta formats at the film festival.

5. Send screenplays, stageplays, teleplays, libretti, or short stories, in standard industry format, with a logline and one-page synopsis. Short stories do not need a synopsis.

6. For TV pilots, Please send the pilot script, a logline and one-page synop of the pilot, a one-page character list and notes on the characters, one page of loglines or mini-synopses of several subsequent episodes, and title page with your contact info. You may bind the entire package in with the pilot script. Items 2, 3, 4, and 5 should be in front of the script.

7. You may submit up to three short stories with a single entry form and for a single entry fee, and you are encouraged to send at least three.

8. ALL FILM AND WRITTEN ENTRIES MUST HAVE A LOGLINE AND ONE-PAGE SYNOPSIS INCLUDED.

9. DVDs & video tapes not in English must have English subtitles. No dubbed video tapes or DVDs will be accepted. Please preview your DVD before submitting it, to make sure it plays correctly!

10. NO PAPER LABELS ON DVDS! Print your film's info directly on the DVD. DVDs with paper labels often will not play, or skip, stick and pixilate. INFO NEEDED: film title, director name, running time of film, contact info

11. Send a check or money order for entry fee in US $, which is non-refundable, payable to: Moondance Film Festival.

12. POSTMARK ENTRY DEADLINE: MAY 15, 2008

13. ANNOUNCEMENTS: Contest winners will be announced at the Moondance Film Festival awards ceremony, where prizes will be given out. The finalists and winners will also be announced in the Moondance e-newsletter and the winning entries will be posted on the Moondance website. No individual e-mails or letters to finalist or winners will be sent out. It’s up to you to read the newsletters and check the website for the status of your submission.

14. Send a copy of written material, DVD, PAL tape, CD or audio cassette. DO NOT send originals nor an SASE, as submitted material cannot be returned.

15. You may enter more than one written work, CD, DVD or PAL tape. There is no limit on how many entries you may submit, but each entry must have a separate entry form and entry fee. You may send multiple submissions together in one package.

16. Short-story writers may submit up to three (3) short stories for a single entry fee. Up to three short stories may be listed on a single entry form.

17. Films & written works may on spec (not produced) or produced. They may have been written or filmed any time, any year. Stageplays may be submitted even if they have been produced on stage. or published. Short stories may be submitted in book form, if published.

18. Remit the entry fee in US $ for each entry.

19. All submissions will be acknowledged via email. Please print your email address very clearly. Include the emails for all individuals named on the entry form who may be interested in learning the results of the competition. IF YOU CHANGE YOUR E-MAIL ADDRESS, LET US KNOW. Add moondancefest@aol.com to your email list of acceptable non-spam emails.

20. Do not send promotional material or film stills with your submission. If your film is selected for screening, we will request the stills at that time.

21. Screenplays, stageplays , teleplays, librettos & short stories may be written in English or translated into English* for submission to competitions. *Note: we now have readers for scripts in several languages: Spanish, German, Dutch, French, Russian, Potuguese and Italian. If you wish to submit a script in a language other than English, please contact moondancefest@aol.com, & we will give you the address for sending the script or stories. Type MOONDANCE in the subject line of your email!

22. Feature, short, documentary & animation DVD(s) or PAL tape(s) may be submitted by the screenwriter, director, producer, production company, distributor, animator, composer, editor &/or cinematographer.

23. Read, sign & submit entry form & release form. If you submit your project via withoutabox.com, you do not need an official entry form nor release form.

24. Moondance reserves the right to decline selecting a semi-finalist, finalist or winner in any category and at any stage of the judging if there are no acceptable entries or finalists in that category.

25. Please do not send your submissions in kapok or shredded-paper-filled envelopes! It can ruin a DVD or video tape, and it gets all over the Moondance office and staff. Do not fill a box with Styrofoam peanuts! Use bubble-wrap or bubble- wrap-filled envelopes or boxes only. Moondance recycles!

26. WRITERS & FILMMAKERS: If you would like to have a critique of your submission, please check off the box for critiques on the entry form, and include an extra $50 for that service.
