CU CAMPUS MAP: http://www.colorado.edu/campusmap/map.pdf
NOTE: EUCLID PUBLIC PARKING LOT is #30 , OLD MAIN THEATER IS #71 and FISKE PLANETARIUM is #31 on the map. There is also off-campus, on-street metered parking north of and adjacent to Old Main, on University Avenue, just east of Broadway. The mountains are always visible to the west, so it's easy to orient yourself when in Boulder.
IS A RENTAL CAR NEEDED?:
The two film screening venues, Old Main Theater & Fiske Planetarium, are not really within walking distance from each other, unless you want to hike across the CU campus. Campus & Boulder maps are available at the three Moondance ticket box offices: Old Main Theater, Fiske Planetarium & Rapid Refill, 2525 Arapahoe. A few other notes:
- The workshop and pitch panels are at Old main Theater.
- The party venues are all on or near the Pearl Street Mall downtown.
- However, everybody at Moondance is very friendly...it is like a big family gathering, and people offer each other rides all the time. Or you can just ask one of the staff or volunteers for a ride. If you decide to rent a car, you'll probably be giving Moondancers rides, too!
- It's about 50 miles from the Denver airport to Boulder.
WEATHER:
Mid-September is usually mild in the daytime, sunny, with blue skies, 65-75+ degrees F. It often rains a little for 5 or 10 minutes in the afternoons, but it’s usually just a sprinkle. Evenings, after the sun goes down behind the nearby mountains, it can cool down quickly, to 45 or 50 degrees F. Sweater or light jacket weather.
DRESS:
Moondance and Boulder are very casual, so almost anything goes here. Bring clothing for both warm weather and cool weather. Some like to dress up a bit for the awards ceremony & reception. Sunglasses are needed, as it’s usually very bright & sunny in Boulder every day
ALTITUDE:
Boulder is about 6000’ in altitude, so people from sea-level or lower altitudes might feel the difference for the first few hours. We recommend arriving on Thursday, to acclimate to the altitude, if you’re not used to it. Keeping well-hydrated and a couple of aspirins will help acclimate you.
HUMIDITY:
There is often almost zero humidity here, and is very dry, so you might want to bring or buy a good moisturizing lotion, and keep yourself hydrated at all times. Carry a water bottle with you. You can buy a 25 oz. Moondance logo stainless-steel water bottle, and fill it with our world-famous Eldorado Springs water, at Mermaid’s Market, located at all Moondance venues. |
