Welcome to the annual Moondance International Film Festival! Moondancers are part of an amazing worldwide community; a unique collaboration of multi-talented writers, film score composers and filmmakers.

Elizabeth English, Founder & Director of the Moondance Film Festival The Moondance mission is to entertain, inform, inspire, encourage and educate. Films and scripts can contribute to a healthier society and should encourage the active involvement of audiences to connect and act collectively to address social challenges. Our independent film programs are entertaining and enlightening, highlighting diverse cultures and stories from around the world. We honor those writers and filmmakers who, through their creative work, actively increase awareness, provide multiple viewpoints, address complex social issues, and strengthen ties between international audiences.

The long-term vision of Moondance is to preserve and revitalize our intangible heritage, cultivate creative diversity, develop an intercultural dialogue, and stimulate this creative resource, as well as to encourage non-violent conflict resolution and to promote women in the international film industry. Films and writings are an ideal means for communication across perceived boundaries of race, culture, age and gender.

At Moondance, you can be entertained and inspired by unique indie film screenings from around the world, attend networking parties and workshops by the pros, come together with other writers, directors and producers to create new opportunities, develop tools for success and forge new alliances within the international film and entertainment industry. Here’s what you get by participating in the Moondance: promotion and exposure of your work on an international level; a forum in which to share your knowledge, experience and talents with your peers; an opportunity to network and make new friends and helpful colleagues among the attendees and participants; meet professional movers and shakers from Hollywood; learn something new and valuable; and get some great pointers on advancing your own entertainment industry career, in this professional, world-class forum.

WHAT YOU NEED
TO KNOW ABOUT MOONDANCE:

As Moondance’s founder, executive director & artistic director, I have had the rare pleasure of personally previewing and judging every single film, reading all screenplays and other written works, and listening to all music and film scores submitted to the annual competition.

I have selected all the films to be screened and all the winners in every category, and have done so, successfully, from the very first Moondance, in 2000.

I do not travel to other film festivals looking for films to invite. In the rare event that a very special film is invited to be screened at Moondance, it is clearly labeled as “invited”, and it can have no chance of winning an award. Only submitted films have that opportunity.

When submitting your work to the Moondance annual competition, you can be 100% assured that it will be carefully previewed and judged fairly.

I went to Pitchfest in LA last weekend and pitched my screenplay. Four producers want to read the screenplay. I noticed that as soon as I mentioned it was a finalist at Moondance, the immediate response was, "Send it to me." Thank you so much for letting me "name-drop" like that. What a world of difference it has made in creating instant interest in my screenplay!
